Agness and all the other students in her class failed their form four secondary school subjects in a community school and thus were unable to continue their education and proceed to higher learning. Yet when Agness was supported to enter a private commercial college she learned with amazing speed and applied herself with dedication. The problem was not with the ability of Agness to learn; it was with the condition and methods of the school she attended. The Adopt a School projects aim to work within and support the developing education systems of African countries. Adopt a School is engaged in discussions with educational and examining authorities and is working towards rectifying the situation where brilliant young people like Agness can spend years at school utilizing the entire financial ability of their families with failure almost assured. The education of students like Agness falls well below its potential and the future for them is bleak. A vital investment of the nation's resources is wasted. Adopt a School has dedicated itself to help. Education is the solution to all of the problems of Africa |

What we are doing for Tanzanian Schools
Where there is a community in distress Adopt a School will channel resources to that community directing particular attention to the children and their education. In this way we reach and assist every household. When a school is 'adopted' there is a lengthy and detailed process of community consultation and the development of a plan to improve the school over a period of five years. Agreements are reached as to the input of the school community, the teachers , students and the Education Office so that the project becomes a true joint venture. When the plan is prepared Adopt a School seeks sponsorship for that school and manages the work and funds for the full duration of the project. Links are developed with all schools in the program providing joint development integration and economies of scale. |

Adopt a School works at a grass roots level one school at a time.
A school will be identified for development in a joint process with
the Tanzanian Education Authorities on the basis of immediate need,
the will of the community, the quality of its teachers and the potential
of its students.
