| Where We Work |
|
Since early 2003 The Adopt a School program has been developing in the Arusha region of Tanzania. This area was selected for convenience of operation in the formative years and so that our efforts to establish model school templates would receive greater notice.
The greater population density allowed us to form adopted schools into clusters to ensure better cooperation between schools and make travelling distances for teachers attending workshops shorter.
While Community Schools in this region are in serious need The schools in the more outlying regions are in more desperate circumstances. The Adopt a School program has now expanded to the remote Mbulu district with the adoption of Sumawe Primary School and Sumawe Village for Millennium Village Development. A cluster of schools and villages is being formed in this area before the same process is expanded to other deprived areas.
Despite invitations and the need to work in other African countries The Adopt a School program is currently concentrating its efforts in Tanzania.
